Let’s keep it simple this holiday season. Let’s not invest in a bunch of cheap and disposable plastic holiday decorations. Let’s instead invest our money in what really matters at any party any time of the year: food and booze. Here’s some tips to make your space holiday appropriate without going broke, and keep it classy:
So, this is kind of my go to for every occasion. Heading to my back yard to find seasonal accents is totally free. In winter, everything looks dead, but it can really bring your space to life. Pine branches can be placed in vases, pinecones can be hot glued to twine, and if you’re ambitious find a dead branch to hang from your ceiling to like I did for Buffalo Magazine. It’s way easy, it’s whimsical, and impressive to your guests.
Candles, Candles, Candles
They’re warm, they’re inviting, they’re romantic, they’re a no brainer. I grab any brass candle holders I see at estate sales cause they’re classic and can be used for almost any season.
If you have to spend money on some type of holiday decoration because buying shiny new things excites you (which I totally understand), remember that they don’t have to only live on the tree. They can accent a mantle or a tablescape. Or hang from the super artsy and visually interesting branch hanging in your dining room. Keep your colors neutral. Cream, white, and gold work in almost any space.
